Person D- Caitlin

Person A
Rob Ryan as a child was playing in the woods then something happened were his two friends went missing and he woke up holding on to a tree and someone's blood was poured into his shoes. Now he changed his name, and became a detective. He has to figure out a murder mystery that happened in the same woods were his friends disappeared.

Person B
"Our superintendent, O'Kelly, introduced her at monday-morning parade, and she stood up and said something about being delighted to join the squad and hoping she'd live up to its high standards: she was barely medium height, with a cap of dark curls and a boyish, slim, square shouldered build."

"This field is where the wood had been, twenty years ago. The strip of trees was what was left of it. I had lived in one of the houses beyond the wall."

"She was lying curled on her left side, as though she had fallen asleep on he sofa under the peaceful murmurs of adult conversation."

"but we have to be able to say we've explored and eliminated every possibility. If we leave anything out, then when we catch this person-which we will-the defense can make that into reasonable doubt."

"Deep down, I think ironic as it may see-a part of me couldn't wait to see what would happen next."

Person C
Question 1-When reading there are words that are written in italics such as on page 41" Remember, pilgrim, as you pass by,As you are now so once i was I; As i am now so will you be..." Why do you think he put these random sayings all around the book?

Question 2- Do you think their is chemistry between Cassie and Ryan (Adam)? Give an example.
Yes, because they have a vibe of liking each other. But we have a feeling that Cassie has stronger feelings than Ryan.

Questionn 3- Do you think the hair clip really belongs to Jamie? why?
There is a strong chance that the hair clip could have belonged to Jamie. Katy was completely matching and the clip did not match also, we have a feeling the killer of Jamie and Peter are the same and the clip could just be a hint from the killer.

Question 4- Do you think there could be a different reason why Ryan( Adam) disliked Damian?
He did not give full detail on what he was saying and also he was just weird.

Question 5- Do you think there is a possibility that the girl may not be Katy?
I think that there is a small chance it might not be Katy but it probably is her.

Person D - Summary
Friday was our first book club for In The Woods. A majority of the time we spent going over what had happened in the book. Also, we talked about what we wanted to happen. The first section of the book was very wordy. There was a lot of words we didn't understand or parts that we didn't quite get, so we also spent a while talking about those few parts. Overall, the book so far has been extremely intriguing. We all really like how the main character Rob Ryan's case connects to his past. After we discussed all of that we talk about Nicole's questions. Some of them we spent a lot of time on. Like number five which asked "Do you think there is a possibility that the girl may not be Katy?". We all feel like it is, but we want it to be Rob's friend Jamie who had gone missing when he was 12. Unfortunately after that we ran out of time.

Person A- The language of this book ranges. Some pages it can be very easy to understand where others can be very difficult. We all often find ourselves reading with a dictionary or computer near us so we can look up anything we don't understand.

Person B-casey.
1. How could anyone want to harm that gorgeous wee girl?
2.I thought about this. "Is that why you don't like dying?
3.Rosalind finally came in on Tuesday, at lunch time. No phone call, no arrangement.
4."We sent the swabs of those shoes off for DNA testing.
5."No, they'll be back any minute you see.. they went to veiw.. it."

Person C
Why doesnt detective ryan want to tell o'kelly about his past about the woods?
because he wants to stay on the case, he would get kicked off if he did, it was linked to his story in a way

Why do you think Rosalind told detective ryan that she couldn't get out on friday, then looked over her shoulder, then told him please detective please? do you think her parents wouldn't let her go and that she looked at her family when she looked over?
because she probably doesn't want her family to know, her parents don't want her to talk to the detectives

Do you think cassie and ryan could start a relationship or do you think that they are more like brother and sister?
we think they should start a relationship, nicole thinks that it would ruin their friendship

why did rosalind feel more comfortable talking to detective ryan rather than detective maddox(girl-to-girl)?
no answer, dont know

do you think the same person that killed Ryan's friends killed katy?
yes, no because the guy would be very old

Person D
This weeks meeting went very well. Casey was kind enough to bring in nesteas for the whole group and Caitlin brought delicious chocolate chip muffins. After out 2 minute snack we got right into the book and started discussing the questions. Everyone had a great opinionated response to each question Liza asked. After that we got a little off track but then i scolded everyone so we began to talk about the quotes. Casey found excellent quotes because with each quote she said, each one got a more in-depth response. I believe that overall this book club went very well and i hope that in the future we all continue to read the book and stay on track.

Week 3
Person A-Nicole
Person B-Caitlin
Person C- Casey
Person D- Liza

Person A
For this book, i believe that the mood or tone of this book is flat out serious. When i read i feel like the main character (Adam Ryan) is very serious about everything and rarely has an emotion. I mean he tries to be funny at points of the story but he really isn't. For example.....

Person B
"Cassie's eyes finally focused on mine, and I was shaken by the concentrated, diamond-hard hatred. "Legion," she said."
"We did a terrible thing. I know it's a bit late to be saying that, I should've thought of it twenty years ago, but... tell her, all the same."
"Go for it, small-town boy. Break a leg."
"Here," she said, getting back into the car and giving me a little one-sided smile. "Now I want my Christmas present."
"Even if these morons ever give us anything, it won't be on disk or in a database."

Person C- casey.
1.Why did Cassie mention journalists to Sam?
She was referring to the motorway records that data as far back as 1994 and the stories that must have been written about them.
2. Who is Alicia Rowan? How is she connected to the murder?
She was one of the people questioned about the murder of Katy Devlin. The questioned her because of a police call she made saying that her daughter and friends ran away.
3. Why did Cassie say " what we've been forgetting is that kids think differently"?
She said this because they were trying to figure out how Katy's killer got her to the kill sight forgetting that kids don't think of things the same way adults can. They can't put two and two together.
4. In the story, do they have a solid suspect yet?
No, they're still questioning people.
5. Who do you think is the killer?
It's still not very clear who the killer is, so many people are being questioned.

Person D
During this weeks session, we talked about how the characters are changing. Some are getting new ideas about who the killer is and some don't even want to be on this case. For example, Ryan is regretting being on the case because he is somewhat linked to it. We think Cassie and Ryan will end up going out someday, but not while the investigation is going on. We believe the killer is Katy's father, but we aren't 100% sure yet. So far we really enjoy the book and cannot wait to find out who the killer is.

Week 4
Person A-Liza
Person B-Nicole
Person C-Caitlin
Person D-Casey

Person A
The themes of the book are to find out who Katy's killer is and who the killer is far Ryan's 2 best friends. We imagine the crime scene for Ryan's two friends and also Katy's. We also imagine how Ryan and Cassie reacted to everything. Another theme of this book is the mystery of who killed these three children. The image is how Ryan keeps getting connected to the murder of Katy Devlin and how he gets flashbacks here and there.

Person D.
During this weeks session we are getting a better idea of who could have killed the person but we're still not sure. We have all agreed that the book can get a little confusing. While reading, we found out that Cassie doesn't want a realtionship with Ryan. All of us were a little shocked because we thought that in the end they were going to be in a relationship. At thins point of the book things are started to get a little more clear as to the ending of the book.

Week 5
Person A- Casey
Person B- Liza
Person C- Nicole
Person D- Caitlin

Person A
After reading the book "In The Woods" our book club group agreed that we would not recommend this book to other people to read. If you like reading wordy books then maybe we would recommend it. We do not believe that this book should should be on the school curriculum. Your reading level should be high and you have to be mature to read and understand this book.

Person B
"Cassie went for more coffee, came back with a look of guilty mischief and a packet of custard creams swiped from the canteen."
"She used to get her dad mad at Rosalind and Jessica. Like all the time, they were always scared."
"None of us had the energy to answer. I detached myself from the window frame and took seat, as far from everyone else as possible."
"If you can deviate from this route at any point, say so for mike. Give your location as often as you can."
"I watched for a long time, until my mobile began vibrating insistently in my pocket and the rain started to come down more heavily, and then I put out my cigarette and buttoned my coat and headed back to the car."

Person D- Today was our final book club. We discussed
